So this episode ended up being a bit of a snooze, so Chris and Ally invite special guest Javier Grillo-Marxuach (@OKBJGM) to talk about the Xena reboot that could have been! While trying not to get sidetracked into talking about Star Trek, we discuss mutual bathing, the complicated properties of Sumac, Xena as YOGURT (yep!), and how Xena Warrior Princess was a show for weird nerds before television started catering TO weird nerds. Bands are named and formed, papyrus is invented, and we also discuss why a crowded comic con is a GOOD comic con.
This is Lucy Lawless's first episode of THE ENTIRE SEASON where she's back in fighting form, and special guest Amanda Meadows (@amandonium) joins us to celebrate the occasion. This episode brings back Gabby's old friend Meleager, but it also brings up a ton of timeline inconsistencies. When Meleager is sentenced to death by a messy bitch who lives for the drama aka a reputably fair judge, Xena and Gabrielle are faced with a dilemma. Gabrielle, who can see the good in people, is convinced that Meleager is innocent. However, Xena has Seen Some Shit, and is torn between trusting her instincts and trusting her friend.
CW: this episode includes some talk about alcoholism/addiction.
